Using your own tissue (e.g., with a DIEP or PAP flap) for breast reconstruction offers several advantages over purely implant-based reconstruction. Traditional flap reconstruction may not offer enough volume for thinner women. Hybrid breast reconstruction is most suitable for women who have a donor site flap volume that is less than the volume of their desired breast reconstruction. There are two main types of hybrid breast reconstruction.  The HyFIL® breast reconstruction combines a flap and pre-pectoral implant, while the HyPAD® breast reconstruction technique involves a flap and pre-pectoral acellular dermal matrix (ADM).
