Dr. Tanna performs an arm lift, also known as a brachioplasty, to tighten and contour the upper arm, from the elbow to the shoulder. With aging or weight fluctuations, sagging skin, loose tissue, or excessive skin and fat may develop. An arm lift procedure can remove this excess tissue and help restore a more youthful and sculpted appearance.

Arm Lift Surgery in New York: A More Sculpted Arm Appearance

Dr. Tanna performs arm lift surgery on an outpatient basis. Some patients may only require liposuction to improve arm definition, while others may have excess hanging skin that must be surgically tightened. Dr. Tanna strives to achieve the trim, sculpted upper arm look you want with the least invasive surgical treatment.

Is an Arm Lift Right for Me?

If you feel unhappy with the appearance of your upper arms and are living with any or all the following conditions, an arm lift may be right for you:

  • Upper arms appear plump and flabby
  • Drooping skin and fat on upper arms
  • Lack of definition in upper arms
  • Unsightly excess saggy skin on upper arms
  • Localized pockets of fat in the upper arm area

Candidates for this procedure should be at a relatively stable weight, not significantly overweight, be in good general health, and must not have a medical condition that could affect healing or increase any risk when undergoing surgery.

The Procedure: Arm Lift or Brachioplasty

As with any aesthetic surgery, your procedure will be tailored to address all the cosmetic issues associated with the appearance of your upper arms. The surgery itself, while customized, will include these general steps:

Anesthesia or Sedation

Depending upon the scope of the procedure and patient needs, either general anesthesia or IV sedation will be administered.

To limit the appearance of scars, it may be possible to place incisions within the armpit, while in other cases, the incisions may be on the underside of the arms.

Fat reduction

Depending upon the situation, fat may be extracted with advanced liposuction system for smoother results.

Removal of excess skin

If present, the excess drooping skin will be removed, and the incisions closed to create the tighter, more defined look to the upper arms.

Arm Lift Recovery Steps

As with any surgical procedure, you will need to schedule adequate time off work or your other activities to heal and recover. Recovery typically progresses as follows:

Enjoying Your New Look

Once you are fully healed, you can begin to enjoy seeing firm, trim upper arms, and make plans for wearing clothing options you probably avoided prior to surgery. No more hanging, flabby, skin and fat, and your upper arms will appear trim and fit. You can wear sleeveless garments with confidence. The increase in feelings of wellbeing, confidence, and body image make the procedure well worth the time and effort. Talk to Dr. Tanna about arm lift surgery and have a personal evaluation of your condition to find out what procedure will re-sculpt your upper arms so they appear trim, fit, and attractive.
